The horned lizard can shoot a stream of blood from its eyes to scare predators, so the Bloodspike Watcher will shoot a consistent stream of crimson death from its singular eye for a couple seconds. A literal death ray, the color of blood, burning with rage. This eye can shoot a consistent beam of death. The Bloodspike's head is adorned with two large horns atop it, as well as a single, crimson eye. The tip of the Bloodspike's tail is a large, metal ball, covered in spikes.

Spikes cover its neck and tail, and its tail is akin to that of an Ankylosaurus. Just like the horned lizard, the Bloodspike has a wide, heavyset, spike-covered body. The Bloodspike looks a lot like this lizard, looking more like a long-necked turtle with a long, spiky tail than a Watcher. This lizard has a very wide body covered with spikes, and a small head with two horns on it.

The Bloodspike is based off of another lizard called the horned lizard. Monitor lizards are characterized by oversized necks, short legs, heavyset bodies, and long tails. Not because, "hahafoony, it's a lizard that monitors things", but because of its morphology. The regular Watcher is based off of a monitor lizard. Not because it sounds edgy, but because of its inspiration. These Watchers are more like heavily armed guards for terraforming herds instead of lightly armed scouts that notify you when they see something dangerous. This Watcher is a drastic deviation from the cute, friend-shaped, cycloptic recon machines of old. This Watcher is so heavily modified by HEPHAESTUS that it barely resembles a Watcher anymore. I feel that Guerilla should have expanded on this concept a lot more with the Watchers by making more combat-oriented variations of them instead of just removing the regular Watcher. I like this idea of robot natural selection, where better models with better defenses against humans keep being produced, whereas models with less protection against the tribes stop being produced and get phased out in favor of the new ones. The remaining ones were hunted to extinction by human tribes. HEPHAESTUS realized this and stopped producing that model of Watcher, so there were no more regular Watchers being produced. The regular Watcher was bad at its job and was too easy for humans to take out. The Redeye has replaced the regular Watcher, which makes sense. In Forbidden West, the Watchers are an afterthought. Please tell me if these ideas won't work well with that game. Note: I haven't played Forbidden West, since I don't own a PlayStation.
